This year, as in previous years, the Kanpaku-ki memorial service will be held on March 2nd, the anniversary of the death of Fujiwara Yorimichi, who founded Byodoin Temple.
While visitors will not be able to enter the Phoenix Hall during the ceremony, they will be able to observe the service from around Ajiga-ike Pond.
This year marks the 952nd anniversary of Lord Yorimichi's passing in 1074. As this is a once-a-year opportunity to remember Lord Yorimichi, we would be grateful if visitors would offer their prayers during their visit.
Please note that due to the memorial service, tours inside the Phoenix Hall will be suspended on Monday, March 2nd, from the 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM time slots.
Tours are scheduled to resume from the 12:50 PM time slot, but please be aware that this may change depending on the progress of the memorial service.
