Notice Regarding the Suspension of Special Nighttime Viewing at Byodoin Temple.

Since around 2017, following the completion of the Heisei restoration of the Phoenix Hall (Phoenix Hall), special night-time openings featuring the illumination of the hall have become a cherished tradition during the spring and autumn seasons at our temple. Over the years, we have been truly honored to welcome a great many visitors. However, due to various circumstances, we regret to inform you that we will be suspending our special night-time openings, with the spring 2026 event serving as our final session for the time being.
Please kindly note that no events will be scheduled for the autumn of 2026.

One of the primary reasons for this suspension is that, starting this year and for the foreseeable future, our temple will be focusing on several major duties, including preparations for the completion of the restoration work currently underway at the Kannon-do Hall.
While the exact timing for resuming these special viewings remains undecided at present, we are committed to making future events even more meaningful—offering our visitors a deeper appreciation of our temple’s history, culture, architectural beauty, and the serene changes of the seasons.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who has looked forward to these evening visits, and we humbly ask for your gracious understanding as we work to preserve these cultural treasures and maintain our sacred grounds.
