We anticipate significant congestion, including on the roads surrounding our facility, during the wisteria blooming season and the upcoming consecutive holidays from Saturday, April 18, to Sunday, May 10, 2026. We strongly encourage all visitors to utilize public transportation when coming to our facility. Please be informed that we do not provide dedicated parking spaces for visitors.
Please note that there will be some changes to our facility operations during this period as described below.
-Regarding the Issuance of Goshuin (Temple Seals)
From April 18 (Sat) to May 6 (Wed), we will only be issuing the Phoenix Hall seal; the Amida Nyorai seal will not be available.
We will provide both direct entries into your book and pre-written sheets.
Reception hours remain unchanged from 9:10 to 16:45, but please be aware that reception may close early if there is a high volume of requests.
-Regarding the Suspension of Video Exhibits and Artifact Displays at Hoshokan Museum
To reduce congestion in the museum, the video exhibit will be suspended from May 2 (Sat) to May 6 (Wed).
In addition, the artifact section (displaying the canopy reconstruction, roof tiles, and other excavated items) will be closed to the public from April 18 (Sat) to May 10 (Sun).
-Regarding the Opening Days of Sabo Toka (Tea Room)
We will be open on public holidays during this period. However, we will be closed on April 30 (Thu) and May 7 (Thu) in lieu of those days.
Opening hours remain 10:00 to 16:30 (last order at 16:00), but please note that the tea room may close early depending on how crowded it becomes.
-Regarding the Parking Space at the Front Gate
The parking area for bicycles and mopeds will be closed from May 2 (Sat) to May 6 (Wed)
Please be advised that during long holiday periods, visitors may experience significant wait times of up to 2 to 3 hours to enter the interior of the Phoenix Hall.
While re-entry to the temple grounds is generally not permitted, guests holding an interior viewing ticket for the Phoenix Hall may re-enter by presenting their ticket to our staff at the entrance gate. We encourage you to utilize this option to comfortably manage your time at nearby facilities while you wait.
* Please note that re-entry to the temple grounds is not permitted once your interior viewing has concluded.
* Kindly be aware that we are unable to offer time changes or refunds should you miss your designated viewing time.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.
